The Rotary movement initiated the aim of eradicating Polio throughout the world.

At a later stage the WHO joined the campaign.

Rotary is still very active in the few areas that Polio still persists.

Through Rotary and WHO millions are still vaccinated every year especially children.

In 2008/9 The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation awarded Rotary International

US $355,000,000 towards the eradication of Polio throughout the World.

This is contingent on Rotary International raising a further US $ 200,000,000 over three years

In 2012 Rotarians worldwide met this target and deadline

2013 We are so close to achieving our aim, we must not let up.
